2 min read

During the week, Amb.(Chief) Cosmos Yahzitere Okoh, a trustee of the Organization of World Peace Ambassadors and founder of the International Organization of United Nations Volunteers described the recent boast of Chief Tinubu that he is the next Nigerian president as a slap on justice and equity in Nigerian politics. According to the Chief Volunteer Okoh, Nigerian politicians are quick in displaying of infrastructural developments but do not show any form of moral altitudes as justice and equity.

Continuing, Chief Cosmos Okoh argued that another Nigerian President of Yoruba extraction is a very unfair since Chief Olusegun Obasanjo from that geo political zone ruled Nigeria from 1999 – 2007.

He maintained that for fair play, a president of Igbo extraction is required to balance up the three legs that hold up Nigeria. Chief Okoh said that Nigerians should do justice to the outcome of Constitutional Conference of the late General Sani  Abacha in 1995 that apportioned Nigeria into six geo political zones and rotational presidency amongst them. He explained that the Constitutional Conference ruled that ‘in an event of death of president, the vice president will hold the government for three months and within the period, he will conduct election for aspirants from the zone of the demised president for his replacement and completion of his tenure.

“The rotation of political officials and offices in Nigeria will be applicable to all levels of constituencies.” Amb. Okoh reiterated to Umuaka Times. According to him, the rotation of offices amongst component parts of the constituencies is the sure means of continuity and peaceful co-existence of Nigeria. He called on President Mohamed Buhari to showcase his strong will,  defence of justice and turn by turn project he was known for during his military regime. Concluding, Chief Cosmos Yahzitere Okoh insisted that the sure way to express the morality capacity of Nigerian politicians is to allow Igbo society to produce the next incoming president by 2023 as such sacrifice and legacy will calm down the vexing South East youths.

According to Amb Okoh, the rotational system was made part of the Resolutions reached at the Ex President Goodluck Jonathan’s National Conference of 2015.
