Ikenna Nwachukwu: One death a thousand pains.

The death of youthful Ikenna Anozie Nwachukwu which occurred on Sunday 18 June 2023 while on active duty with his team of police officers is still a very sad reality many Akalites especially family members, colleagues and friends are yet to come to terms with. Ikenna who was full of life was said to have gone on duty with his colleagues and it was at the heat of the operation that he met his untimely death. The trip ill-fated trip which took place on Saturday 17 June 2023, was said to have taken place in the Orlu zone of the state.

Although the Imo State Police Command is yet to issue any official statement as at the time of this report regarding the death of Nwachukwu, it is generally suspected that yet to be identified gunmen killed the handsome police officer in a gun battle. Umuaka Times could not confirm this story as at press time.

Friends of the diseased who have been in the dark over what actually took place, since his death hit the internet by the afternoon hours of Sunday 18 June 2023, with his video clips and different action pictures. Despite all the activities that greeted the sad news of his demise, his friends and family members still find it very hard to face the ugly reality. Some of his pictures and video clips have continued going viral in the state and beyond. A video which emerged last week where the lifeless body of the police officer lay motionless on the floor of the police vehicle conveying his corpse, showed Ikenna on his white singlet which was soaked with blood at his chest region. This suggested that the bullet may have hit him on his chest region.

If this is anything to go by, many people have questioned why the dead officer and his colleagues were not provided with bulletproof vests while on such a deadly operation.

For now Ikenna is gone and nobody knows what tomorrow holds. From Umuaka Times findings, Ikenna Nwachukwu was last seen on his Whatsapp chat by 12:51 am on the Sunday June 18 2023, the day of his death. On the same day, Umuaka Times visited the family compound of the Nwachukwus during the night, it was tears and tears all over.
