The burial of late Mother Ezinne Esther Agumba (née Udogu) was held on April 1, 2026, in her hometown of Achara community, Njaba Local Government Area, drawing a large turnout of dignitaries from both the public and private sectors. The event was widely attended, reflecting the late matriarch’s influence and the respect she commanded during her lifetime.

Umuaka Times correspondents who arrived at the country home of her first son, Dr. IfeanyiAgumba, during the wake-keep observed elaborate preparations ahead of the funeral. The compound was adorned with decorative elements, including VIP tents and portraits of the deceased, setting the tone for what many described as a well-organized and memorable ceremony.

Early on the day of the burial, family members and community youths proceeded to the mortuary at Umuaka Community Hospital to retrieve the remains. By shortly after 8 a.m., the motorcade returned to the family residence, where a lying-in-state ceremony was conducted at the country home of DrIfeanyiAgumba. Friends, relatives, church members, and various community groups paid their final respects in an orderly procession.

The funeral program also featured an oration in honor of the deceased, followed by a sermon delivered by a pastor from the Catholic Charismatic Church. Prayers were offered for the family, with clergy calling forward relatives for blessings and words of encouragement during the solemn service.

Following the church rites, the procession moved to her husband’s ancestral home, where the interment took place. Members of the Achara community organized additional cultural activities to honor the late Ezinne, who, according to attendees, lived a fulfilled life and made meaningful contributions to her family and community.
