Late Deaconess Regina Nwaodoro Egonu’s burial date fixed.

The family of late Deaconess Regina Nwaodoro Egonu, a respected woman of faith and the matriarch of the Egonu family from Umuokwaranwaneri, Isiozi-Akah in Njaba LGA Imo State, has announced the burial date of their respected mother whom of lately has been nicknamed “Mother General”. According to Umuaka Times local sources, Deaconess Egonu, who died at the age of 90, was described by all who knew her as an accommodating, virtuous and deeply religious woman who lived an exemplary life and made a lasting impact on her children, grandchildren and the community.

A family member and one of the children of the deceased, Comrade Chukwudi Egonu in an interview with Umuaka Times concerning the burial plans of his mother said the late matriarch had expressed a wish that her exit from this world should be celebrated in a grand and meaningful manner. According to the source, the family has decided to honour her final wish with a one-week program of activities beginning on Monday, January 4, 2027 and ending on Sunday, January 10, 2027.

Comrade Egonu disclosed to Umuaka Times that the program is expected to include a Christian crusade, free medical outreach, distribution of food items to people in need, Christian wake keep among other activities. The burial ceremony proper will take place on Friday January 8, 2027 while the celebration will continue until Sunday, January 10, 2027, when the family is expected to hold a church outing service.

In his words, the family source said: “Our amazing mother; a great deaconess of the Apostolic Church with a beautiful heart lived an exemplary life. She was Christlike, very peaceful, accommodating and can simply be described as a woman of faith, one of a kind, a virtuous woman and praying mother. She had a last wish that we celebrate her exit from the world in a grand style, requesting a one-week celebration, she specifically stated that on that day, that we should not cry rather we all and our children should dress well and celebrate her glorious sojourn on earth while she transits to be in the right hand of the lord enjoying eternal life. This her last wishes are exactly what we are set to do.”

Umuaka Times local reporters gathered that the family is expected to release further details of the week-long program, including the venues and times for the various activities, in the coming weeks.

Deaconess Egonu is survived by; Lolo Christiana Ezetennadi, Chief Marcel Egonu, Dr. Ike Egonu, Bishop (Engr.) OkeyEgonu, Pastor Andy Egonu, Apostle Ifeanyi Egonu, Mr. Chibuzor Egonu (RN), Mrs. ChinwenduIgwe, Miss Onyinye Egonu and Comrade Chukwudi Egonu, as well as 25 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
