By the time Umuaka Times arrived at the Nwozor Uzoho family of Oru in Ibele Autonomous Community Njaba LGA Imo State, less than 24 hours after the murder of Mr Chikwado Uzoho (MC Onuojo), mourners both the elderly and the young were present. Some were sitting down while others were standing up with their two hands folded across their chests in shock and total disappointment. One elderly woman whose hair had totally turned white was sitting down and some women gathered around her to console her. The woman, Mrs Egbedama Nwozor is the mother of both the victim and the murderer.

From what Umuaka Times gathered, Mr Anene Nwozor, the man who killed his younger brother is now at large. In a close chat with some members of the family, Umuaka Times gathered that Anene has been threatening to kill Chikwado. “One day I will kill you here,” he was quoted as saying. On Thursday April 21 2022, Anene carried out his threat. According to some family sources, Chikwado had been working in his farm since morning and eventually felt very tired. As early as 7 pm, he had retired to his bedroom after a hectic job. As he was on his bed, weak and sleepy, Anene broke into the room with a dagger on his hand and stabbed him on the chest. He did not pull out the dagger, he left it half inside his brother’s chest. Neighbours and some family members who heard the noise from dying Chikwado came out to find out what was really happening. They saw Chikwado in a pool of his own blood. As the noisy was gathering momentum, Anene took to his heels and disappeared into the night till now.

Some villages and neighbours who were within the vicinity came to assist by taking him to a hospital. On getting to a nearby hospital in Amiyi, he was pronounced dead by the doctor, meaning, Chikwado was dead on arrival!

Since the incident took place last week, many Akalites who knew the family very well and the murderer really wondered why such a thing would happen. Some blamed it on the devil while others blamed it on mkpuru mmiri. For now the remains of late Chikwado Uzohu is still in the mortuary.
