Sir Sydney Ik Okpoko, KDG and the President-General Umuaka Municipal Council South African branch marked his birthday last week in South Africa. Several activities that were lined up for the great event included church service and an evening outing with friends and well wishers.
Sir Okpoko used the occasion and thanked God for giving him another year and prayed for protection from God for him and his family. On the political events and developments down in Nigeria, Sir Okpoko told the South African correspondent of Umuaka Times that his main interest in Nigeria, especially Imo State is the enthronement of peace and orderliness. He outrightly condemned in strongest terms, the killing of Imo youths by some political forces for selfish interests.
On the 2023 election, Sir Okpoko reminded the youths that they must play “a vital role in the upcoming elections next year, by voting competent people and desist from collecting money from corrupt politicians.”
He finally warned the youths and other electorates in Nigeria that to collect money from corrupt and incompetent politicians is to vote for the killing of the future of the country. He ended up by saying, “When you collect money from them, you are killing your future”.
